Locally and family owned in Bartlett since 1979
Bartlett Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics has been caring for children in this part of Tennessee for over 45 years. We are not a chain, and we are not new. The same red heart that is painted on our sign has marked this practice the whole time.
Two offices carry that history forward today, one in Bartlett and one in Atoka, and between them we see children from their first tooth all the way to their twenty first birthday, with no cutoff at all for patients with special needs.

In business since 1979, locally and family owned, right here in Bartlett. Over 45 years of experience is long enough to have treated a parent as a child and now treat their own kids in the same two offices.
Two offices, one chart
The main office is on Kirby Whitten Road in Bartlett. The second office is at 11664 US-51, Suite B, Atoka, Tennessee, open Monday through Wednesday. A child's records travel between both.
First tooth to twenty first birthday
We see children from their very first tooth through their twenty first birthday. Specialized Dental Care for Children, Including Those With Unique or Special Needs, is what this practice was built around, and for those patients there is no age cutoff at all: we keep seeing them past twenty one and into adulthood.
Board certified pediatric dentists
Dr. Tim Bakelaar is board certified in pediatric dentistry and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, the credential that means additional years of training specific to children beyond dental school.
Orthodontics in the same building
First phase and traditional orthodontics, including Invisalign, are handled in house by our own orthodontists, and the orthodontic evaluation is no charge. No referral out, no second building to learn.
Sedation and hospital privileges
Oral and IV sedation are both available in office for children who need it, and the practice is certified for in hospital visits. Dr. Bakelaar holds operating room privileges at LeBonheur East Surgery Center for cases that call for it.
We handle the insurance paperwork
Insurance forms are filed by our office on behalf of families, not left for a parent to sort out after an appointment.
Comfortable while you wait
Free Wi-Fi is available in both offices, and our team speaks English and Spanish, so a visit is easier for the whole family, not just the child in the chair.
