What the years actually look like
Forty five years in Bartlett has given us a fairly clear picture of how a childhood of dental care goes. This is the route most families take through this building.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry says the first visit should happen by the first birthday. We think it is time when the first tooth appears. That visit is short and mostly for you: what to watch, how to brush a mouth that does not want brushing, and what is normal.

From age one we like to see children twice a year. A cleaning lifts what a toothbrush leaves behind above and below the gum line, topical fluoride goes on at every cleaning, and sealants close the grooves in the back teeth where cavities in children almost always begin.

Tooth coloured fillings, crowns after a fracture or severe decay, and pulpotomies, the baby root canal that keeps a tooth in place until the permanent one is ready. If a child is frightened, very young, or has special needs, nitrous oxide through to IV sedation is available in this building.

Orthodontics is in house, first phase and traditional, including Invisalign, and the evaluation is no charge. Families tell us the convenience of one building is the part they did not expect to care about, and then do.

At twenty one a patient moves on to a general dentist. There is one exception and it is deliberate: we continue to see patients with special needs past their twenty first birthday and into adulthood, with no age cutoff.
Treatments
We are a pediatric practice with orthodontics in the same building, so most of what a child needs between the first tooth and the last set of braces happens here, with people they already know.
The visit every six months
Gentle, kid friendly cleanings that lift plaque and calculus from above and below the gum line, then polish the teeth and finish with fluoride.
